GABRIEL BEING PENSIVE #1

This is a very random piece about a topic that I’ve been thinking about for quite some time. Although drill music isn’t in the media as much as it used to be, it’s still quite controversial and I’ve always wanted to speak publically about it. I’ll probably start writing more often about my different perspectives on topics that I’m passionate about. Hence, here is post one of Gabriel being pensive:

Music is and always will be a product of its environment. The environment of drill music is knife crime, drug dealing and violence. Thus, if you have a problem with drill music, you shouldn’t censor it. You should deal with the environment so that no more young people find themselves in such an environment.

I personally hate drill music. The concept of making music that is so intertwined with death and murder is disgusting to me. Which is why I try to play a small part in bringing awareness to the issues that cause such music to exist. However, we should never ignore the talent that the young people who are making these forms of music possess. Furthermore, if we eliminate the violence and all the negativity from drill music, we’ll be left with talented producers and rappers whose music isn’t entirely centred around criminal activity and can actually be celebrated. This is the future we should look towards.
